For whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin
...so as to live for the rest of the time in flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.
1Peter4:1-2
This week has been so gracious for me. The week was the same as the other weeks but with things added again for me to worry and yet I managed to set them aside, pick one for my day and schedule another time to think about the others.
One at a time.
Again, I was reminded of the purpose on why I choose everyday to deny myself of earthly things. I sometimes get tired of my own values and my own set of standards, I often think why can't I just do what everybody else's doing since no one thinks it's wrong anyway, but then I realised that it is worth it.
The suffering of doing the right thing is worth it.
The verse I shared above reminds me that when you suffer because you try to live your life doing the will of the Lord instead of your earthly passions, you are living according to Christ's example;
He suffered to cease the bondage of sin, and so we experience sufferings now, because sin has indeed ceased in our lives, and we no longer live to the pattern of this world...
And now, the world hates us...
But Christ's encouragement was,
"...remember it hated Me first." (John 15:18)
