Why I’m obsessing over Street Woman Fighter Pt. 1

Yup, I’m so obsessed with this Korean variety show called Street Woman Fighter. (If you haven’t seen this show, please do yourself a favor and watch it. I watched it on Viu and it’s free!) Here’s why:

1. It showcases people with incredible talent and skills in dancing and their passion.

Honestly, whatever it is, whether dancing, singing, writing or whatever, when we see people with burning passion, we are all bound to be drawn to it. Why? Because passion is a common ground, everyone has it - the sense of purpose, the fire burning within, the calling - it drives your life, it's where you should be. In other words, this show is relatable to everyone because it touches on an important aspect in people’s lives - the driving force called passion.

I've seen some of the dancers who participated on some videos, they are incredibly talented, but knowing their stories in the show is what made it so special to the public. It’s their stories that touch people’s hearts and encourage everyone not to give up their dreams, their passions and their talents, and that there is really a time for everything.

2. It’s a show about women.

Women are obsessed with anything that is about women. In history, we all know how women have been deprived of equal rights and so women empowerment will always have a huge impact on society.

I was utterly amazed with the Street Woman Fighter’s participants, their choreographies were stunning. I honestly feel they were works of arts. Whenever the output of each mission is revealed, I am just so surprised how everyone came up with those performances. How everything was compiled into an hour long show doesn't really give justice to the effort that was put into each performance but still I can’t help not to feel overwhelmed by how beautiful they were. You have to see it yourself!!!!

3. It teaches us never to stop trying.

Spoiler alert #1! That episode where Chaeyeon from Want was picked many times as the worst dancer was so difficult to watch for me. It was heartbreaking, I was crying as well. When she said, “I don’t wanna dance anymore” I just felt how difficult that was for her. Being picked as the worst in front of many amazing dancers was just so heartbreaking to watch BUT also was one of the most inspiring parts of the show. When after so many losses, finally got a win, I realised that, in life, we only really lose if we give up and never try again. For me, it’s not that one win that inspired me, it’s those six losses that inspired me - keep on trying and never give up.

4. Honey J is the best.

Spoiler alert #2! Holy Bang kept on losing at the beginning. Everyone knows Honey J, I am assuming, well not me but at least almost everyone in the Kpop industry, and we all know that she is the author of Hip Hop but to see her team losing consecutively was a frustration of hers. But one thing I loved about Honey J was she was always accepting, the comment where she said she came there to be judged and not to judge so she must accept the results was for me a beautiful picture of humility and playing the game fair. Honey J is one of my favorites!

5. Noze is more than a pretty face.

Let’s talk about Noze! Oh come on, that episode 1 was so intense! How could everyone say she’s just a pretty face? But what amazes me more is how successful she has become after being eliminated first! And hey, let’s talk about Hey Mama being viral? The influence she holds! Can I just also say that her face is truly beautiful and so what’s wrong with that? LOL

Honestly, there are so many things that I still want to say, I still want to talk about my love for Leejung but this list will go forever, so I will end here and just make a part 2! :)
